Carlos Ott and Sieger Suarez Architects have unveiled plans for the design of the new Waldorf Astoria Miami for developers Property Markets Group (PMG) and Greybrook Realty Partners, which, when completed, will be the city’s first supertall skyscraper, topping out at 100 stories or 1,049 feet (319.7 metres).
Rising 1,049 feet above Biscayne Bay, the striking tower also will be the tallest building south of Manhattan, offering breathtaking views and signature experiences.
Sited at 300 Biscayne Boulevard in Downtown Miami, the structure consists of nine offset cubes that are intended to emphasize the structure’s suspension and height.
Each of the nine cubes is nine stories, with 10-foot floor-to-ceiling windows that allow for spectacular, one of the kind unobstructed views of Biscayne Bay, Miami Beach, and the Atlantic Ocean.
The first three cubes pertain to the hotel component and parking structure.
Cubes four through eight feature the branded residences configured in studio and 1-to-4 bedroom floor plans, with cube nine exclusively reserved for the Penthouse units, which allows custom layouts encompassing the entire floor.
Carlos Ott’s tower design is conceived as a sculpture, inspired by the elongated and elegant works of Giacometti or Brancusi, a monumental height structure of nine stacked, shifting, and rotating cubes.

The spaces strive to uplift and inspire, where the sculptural quality of the building is manifest in the interior and becomes an immersive experience.
The gallery-like public spaces contain energy, asymmetry, movement, and flow but overlaid with a carefully studied logic and order.
In the same way that music or art can uplift the spirit through beauty and expression, the goal is that feeling of inspiration.
“Waldorf Astoria is a legendary brand and we wanted the design of the soaring tower to continue its legacy in Miami,” said Charles Sieger, co-founder of Sieger Suarez Architects.
“The feeling of transcendence guided much of our design process, and that is what we set out to achieve with Waldorf Astoria Residences Miami.”
The project is scheduled to be completed in 2026.
