The Splendors by Zhiguo Chen is Woods Bagot for Jinmao Group is located in the “High Tech Zone” of Qingdao Hongdao economic area, in between the Bay of Sino-Europe and the Garden of Eden.
The Splendors has recently been awarded a 2022 International Architecture Awards Honorable Mention by The Chicago Athenaeum: Museum of Architecture and Design and The European Centre for Architecture Art Design and Urban Studies.
As the core shopping mall, The Splendors is designed to be a one-stop Micro-Vacation destination in Qingdao.
The mall aims to attract customers from surrounding offices, communities, and other tourists of the Garden of Eden with special commercial activities such as popular F&B, entertainment facilities and children’s retails.
The design of the Splendors incorporates cutting-edge technology to create a lifestyle destination that provides a high-quality cultural and commercial experience.
The people-oriented design was adopted to create a human-scale place for customers.
Taking cues from the natural elements of The Garden of Eden, indoor gardens are set to echo with the outdoor gardens to give customers a physical space to enjoy a peaceful time, helping people for their mental health.
An artistic bridge is designed to link nature from the Garden of Eden to the inside of The Splendors and naturally introduce customers from the outdoor to indoor spaces.
As the landmark project of Qingdao, The Splendors Qingdao will not only reflects the joy and the harmony around the Garden of Eden but also inspires citizen’s strong confidence for a better future.
