This 815m² apartment, located in an extremely beautiful and symbolic neoclassical building close to the emblematic Hotel Unique in Jardim Paulista São Paulo, is a unique renovation by architect David Bastos of DB Arquitetos.
The apartment had never been lived in and its condition was not very good, so it was completely renovated.
The project was developed for a young and daring couple.
With an elegant style, they were looking for an apartment that contemplated wide spaces, while at the same time remaining cozy.
They also desired a place that would blend international contemporary items with objects and furniture by great national artists.
With a growing family, they also needed the addition of bedrooms, as well as suites for guests.
The first major design challenge was to clearly divide the programmatic content into three floors: Intimate Floor, Social Floor, and Office.
For this, the architect had to change the building’s two social elevators, transforming them into two (Intimate and Social).
On the intimate floor, there is the service area, suites, and a pantry.
On the social floor, a large living room is divided into two areas, plus it contains a dining room, toilet, kitchen, and gourmet space with a very expressive continuity to the pool area.
On the office floor, there is a toilet and a sundeck with a very privileged view of the treetops of Jardim América e Europa.
One of the main requirements of the building was that the wooden frames be restored.
In the living room, it was possible to take advantage of these windows by wrapping them in the shelf niches, which frames the view of the joinery as if they were paintings.
The longitudinal kitchen received a passageway that connects it with the pantry and then with the dining room.
It was designed not only for day-to-day use, giving practicality to the family, but also for events.
The bench turns into a sideboard, but also for large events its functionality increases.
On the lower floor, a cinnamon demolition wood floor was taken from an old farmhouse.
This material stands out on the entire floor.
In order to achieve a vertical circulation that does not take up much space, the decision was taken to design a circular staircase in corten steel, making it a cornerstone in the project.
The upper floors mix padded fabric cladding on the walls with a walnut veneer and a Roman travertine floor.
The marble in the bathrooms was chosen to take into account the particular tastes of the customers.
The washrooms, gourmet area, and swimming pool received a Guatemalan green marble that really stands out as one of the stars of the project.
What sets this apartment apart from typical projects is the extreme and complex work carried out… a renovation practically built from scratch.
