London-based Ross Lovegrove has designed a new porcelain collection for the Portuguese manufacturer Vista Alegre inspired by nature and its evolutionary process and embracing the environment to formulate a design approach design.
The new collection recently won a 2020 Good Design Award from The Chicago Athenaeum.
Vortex by Ross Lovegrove presents a genuine challenge to porcelain production, taking it to the limit of what is possible.
Three largescale decorative pieces, which would normally consist of several glued parts, make up a single element modeled in a biscuit mold and subsequently polished by hand, capturing the rotational force of its energy.
The result is astonishing kinetic motion captured in static vase.
The work is of great ingenuity and technical complexity.
