Tremblay en France, France
Designed By Valentin Bernard and Hélène Latour of LA SODA, the renovation and extension of this cultural facility have a multi-faceted program: the creation of a convivial entrance hall, box office, bar-restaurant, exhibitions and activities areas, workspaces, added to complete refurbishment of the main auditorium.
The project manages to turn the old Cinema into a bright, welcoming, and lively place.
Valentin Bernard and Hélène Latour were recently awarded a 2020 European 40 Under 40 Award from The European Centre for Architecture Art Design and Urban Studies and The Chicago Athenaeum.
On a larger scale, this cinema project has a strong impact and operates as a beacon.
Facade metamorphosis is thought of as a signal in the heterogeneous urban context and tries to resonate with Cinema’s magic.
The materials were chosen for their quality and delicacy (stone folds made of “Bleu de Savoie” marble panels with light honeycomb support, associated with gold anodized aluminium curtain wall).
The building interacts with its environment, visual identity emerges, and eventually, some timeless enchantment happens.
The floor area consists of 650 sqm renovation and 300 sqm extension.
