Located in a coastal city in northeast China, Yantai Zhifu Vanke City is a landscaped park designed by Unlimited Metropolis Studio and Shanghai Nissin Architectural Design for Yantai Vance Real Estate Development.
Yantai Zhifu Vanke City has recently been awarded a 2022 International Architecture Awards Honorable Mention by The Chicago Athenaeum: Museum of Architecture and Design and The European Centre for Architecture Art Design and Urban Studies.
The design conforms to the vertical change of the site (with an 8-meter difference in height), retains the vegetation and seedlings on-site, and maximizes respect for the environment.
The designers used what they refer to as a “homeopathic” technique to ingeniously transform the height difference into a landscape system for people to play, interact, and relax.
The outdoor theater, falling water fountain, sea of flowers, and children’s play areas are organically formed by the landscape and create an interaction of functions.
Surprises and possibilities are brought to the surrounding residents, as the site has become a full-time park for children, the elderly, and families for everyday use.
One of the hopes of the designers is that an environment like this one will serve as a place of restoration in a world increasingly encumbered by information and technology.
It is an ‘off-line’ space in the age of the internet.
The design becomes a container to increase emotional communication between the individual and the family, releasing the true state of people’s hearts.
Also known as “Friends’ Summer Park,” Yantai Zhifu Vanke City has undoubtedly become a place of genuine interaction.
