Irene Kronenberg and Alon Baranowitz of Baranowitz Kronenberg Architecture dig into the future with a playful take on the Chesterfield sofa and recreates the globally recognized Chesterfield design with its deep buttoned upholstery, horizontal back line, and rolled arms, extracting the essence of its character and proposing a fresh and playful interpretation worthy of the 21st century.

The New Chesterfield has recently been awarded the 2022 Prize Designs for Modern Furniture and Lighting Award from Global Design News and The Chicago Athenaeum: Museum of Architecture and Design
A bent metal mesh frame defines a refined exterior skeleton bearing two rolled-up arms that stress the horizontal line of the classic version.
The upholstery follows the frame and wraps around it with grace and clarity.

Holding it all up are four slender tubes; minimal, light, and subtle, endowing balance and hierarchy to the entire design.
The New Chesterfield materializes not only the world according to Lensvelt but also one of the essences of our times: the unique desire for authenticity and experiential living.
