The Armchair by Khambatta Designs aims for a design that minimizes wastage that is easy to manufacture

There are so many imaginative and diverse chair designs today, from the minimal to the extravagant.

Aspy Khambatta with his ‘Armchair’ wanted to look in a different direction and to create an armchair for maximum comfort that is ultra simple and easy to manufacture, with no wastage.

This project has been awarded a Prize Design for Modern Furniture + Lighting 2023 by Global Design News and The Chicago Athenaeum Museum for Architecture and Design.

To achieve this goal the chair was broken down into its basic elements.

Based on a simple U-shaped platform, the various components of the backrest, armrests, and seat are fully adjustable.
