Tactile collaborates with the Toronto-based start-up to ecobee to dedefine a ecosystem of smart, eco-friendly, home monitoring product thoughtfully designed to bring comfort at home and control from anywhere.
The Ecobee Smart Thermostat Premium, packaged with an ecobee SmartSensor, is a temperature and humidity monitoring device that transforms the category with advancements to help take care of your comfort, home health, and security needs.
For its smart and aesthetic design, the Ecobee Smart Thermostat Premium has been awarded a 2023 Good Design Award by The Chicago Athenaeum Museum of Architecture and Design and The European Centre for Architecture Art Design and Urban Studies.
Delivering savings of up to 26% on heating and cooling costs, the Smart Thermostat Premium features air quality monitoring and radar technology.
The air quality monitoring calibrates typical air quality levels and provides alerts to any deviations.
Historically, thermostats use PIR (passive infrared) to detect occupancy, but radar detects at a wider angle for improved sensing.
By using radar, ecobee achieved a perfectly continuous glass lens–even the microphones have been moved to be bottom-facing, so the touch screen and interface are uninterrupted.
Like all ecobee products, Smart Thermostat Premium works in harmony with leading smart home ecosystems for full user flexibility.
Ecobee’s newest thermostat was designed to evoke a sense of harmony and balance.
The design team set out to update and evolve the design language while incorporating ecobee’s environmental considerations and new technologies.
Through a rigorous combination of sketching, CAD, rendering, CNC models, 3D printing, user research, and CMF explorations, the team developed a thoughtful design and timeless aesthetic.
