Athens-based graphic designers Sputnik Design Team creates Kos island’s new visual identity using the island’s letters as a reference to the Greek summer under the auspices of the Municipality of Kos.
Renowned for its warm people, historic landmarks, limitless beaches, and awarded cuisine, Kos is reintroduced to its lovers around the world with a simple new logo.
The island of Kos in the Aegean Sea is the epitome of Greek summer, welcoming a record number of visitors from all corners of the world.
The project captures Kos as an international tourist destination in Greece enhancing the value of the island as a pillar of the tourist economy.
The local tourism authorities collaborated widely with Sputnik’s creative team and created a new logo that avoids descriptive references that involve Greek summer stereotypes.
The new logo connects the archetypal Greek landscape of the sea and the sun with the three letters of KOS or K+ Sun + Wave.
The new visual identity is also complemented by 5 thematic pillars that consist of tourist attractions on the island: Hippocrates, Culture, Cycling, Gastronomy, and Activities.
The simplicity of the finding enables easy application with a variety of visual effects, multiplying the impact of identity on digital and analog media.
