Jiyun Kim, Jaehwan Won, Keunyoung Kim, Sooan Park, and Munhan Bea of the ZINUS Design Department have created the Jamison modular sofa, a seating system focusing on seat comfort and ease of assembly.

The project has been been awarded a 2021 Good Design Award by The Chicago Athenaeum: Museum of Architecture and Design and The European Centre for Architecture Art Design and Urban Studies.
Starting from a basic armchair set of armrests and a seat module, seat modules can be added to make a loveseat, sofa, and couch.
With a modular sofa, the product can be tailored to any space size and without sidedness. The system has the “capsule bracket” hardware developed by Zinus to provide a hassle-free assembly experience minimizing the repetitive workload.

A capsule Bracket is a pill-shaped hardware designed without directionality. Having no directionality removes gender from the hardware making the part universal and therefore cost-effective.
The gently curved surface and reliable thickness of the hardware provide smooth and secure slide-and-lock interaction.

The modular system has two variants of armrests allowing stylistic expansion of the sofa: modern rectangular and traditional rolled armrest types.
Neutral light and dark grey and clam oatmeal with the addition of trendy grey velvet will be provided for CMF options.
Seat comfort is achieved through systematic optimization of the details such as heights, widths, and angles.
