Pininfarina’s Silvio Pietro Angori, Vice President and CEO of Pininfarina has presented a breathtaking sculpture named “Orbis” to Pope Francis during a special audience at the Vatican.
Drawing its name from the Latin word for “circle” or “world,” Orbis symbolizes planet Earth and underscores the vital importance of circularity in addressing today’s environmental challenges.

The sculpture’s design is a perfect blend of simplicity and sophistication. Its external circle represents harmony and unity, while the dynamic, intertwined inner surfaces convey the creative tension required to build a sustainable future.
This artistic masterpiece reflects Pininfarina’s vision of a balanced dialogue between technology and nature, a message that aligns seamlessly with Pope Francis’s commitment to ecological stewardship and sustainability.
The unveiling of Orbis coincided with Europe’s largest electric vehicle efficiency test, “From 100 to 5%,” organized by Motor1.com and InsideEVs.
The event showcased Pininfarina’s broader dedication to ecological innovation, particularly within the automotive industry.

Silvio Pietro Angori describes the Orbis as more than a gift—it is a call to action.
“This creation embodies our belief in design as a powerful tool to inspire change, fostering innovation and responsibility in equal measure,” Angori states.
For over 95 years, Pininfarina has been at the forefront of design excellence, bridging aesthetics and functionality.
With Orbis, the company marks another milestone, delivering a universal message of hope, unity, and the urgent need for a sustainable future.
