Described by Philippe Starck as “a paradise designed for the happiness of the people who will live in it”, this new residential project named YOO GYE skyscraper is a 176-meter-high tower that will be located alongside the Rio Guayas river, which runs through Ecuador’s largest city.
This tower will have 46 stories and feature a total of 633 residential units that will be organized in blocks that are staggered further and further apart as the building becomes taller.
“YOO projects, and YOO GYE in particular, are about ‘you,’ I wanted to create a place that draws people together, that makes them laugh, makes them more in love, more sparkling, more intelligent,” explains Starck.
“I wanted to create fertile surprises to awaken people, to create conversations, to create interactions, and to trigger creativity. A place where us, humans, are at its heart. YOO GYE will be this place, this island, this sort of paradise designed for the happiness of the people who will live in it.”
According to the developer, there will be a series of arches added that will create an outdoor space that will incorporate social spaces as well as native vegetation and create vertical gardens.
Except for the apartments, the skyscraper includes also other amenities such as indoor and outdoor pools, a health club, a movie theater, and a “party room,” as well as retail space on the lower levels.
