The SonnenBerg ONE has been designed by Prague-based designer Petr Novague with great respect to the tradition of hand-crafting by Swiss bed producer, Sonnenberg.
It is made by conventional methods, yet it defies the classics. Petr Novague’s aim was to create an extraordinary product that will become the dominating feature of any modern bedroom.
The elegant and futuristic bed design has been recently awarded a 2021 Good Design Award by The Chicago Athenaeum: Museum of Architecture and Design and The European Centre for Architecture Art Design and Urban Studies.
A continental bed, Sonnenberg consists of three parts: The high-quality handmade wooden bedframe coated by fine leather with detailed stitching, a mattress and a top mattress (so called “topper”), with a wide range of brightly colored shades of covering materials.
The goal is to answer a simple question: “What would a bed on a spaceship look like?”
At the same time, the manufacturer cares about the quality of the materials used during the handmade production.
The designers believe that the result is a well-balanced product that will adorn modern bedrooms for several decades.
There are great benefits to be had from the used materials: horsehair, which contributes to the thermoregulation abilities of the human body. Also, springs, which ensure better blood circulation.
It was not easy to combine the spirit of a traditional Swiss manufacturer of luxury beds and a futuristic design.
Sonnenberg beds comply with the strict conditions of ‘Swiss Made’, which in itself is a proof of the highest Swiss quality.
The company is adamant about procuring and using supreme materials and about cutting-edge craftsmanship.
Every single component of this beds is handled by human hands, since quality is of far greater significance to the company than quantity.
This mindset ensures that customers are getting a commodity of lifelong value that is—similarly to craftsmanship—being passed down for generations.
