The Alessi Farfalla Nutcracker by Enzo Mari finally brings his late 1990s design into existence as the perfectly minimal addition to any holiday table.
Archetypal and presenting an essential design, the Farfalla (‘Butterfly’) nutcracker is an example of the process of painstaking elimination of the superfluous, which has always accompanied Enzo Mari’s meta-projectual research.
The Alessi Farfalla Nutcracker has recently been awarded a 2022 Good Design Award by The Chicago Athenaeum: Museum of Architecture and Design and The European Centre for Architecture Art Design and Urban Studies.
The object is defined in a few precise lines, capable of summarizing the reasons that brought it into being.
Designed at the end of the 1990s and never realized, its production in 2021 paid tribute to one of the masters of Italian design.
A functional addition to any kitchen, the Alessi Farfalla Nutcracker is also a decorative piece for a festive table.
