Meet Ovo – Lumio’s reimagination of the desk lamp as an interactive, sculptural experience. Its inspiration stems from nostalgic moments of childhood joy playing on a seesaw and the captivating movement of Calder’s wind sculptures.
These memories inspired us to create a product that isn’t just functional, but also interactive and playful.
Ovo Desk Lamp by Lumio, won a 2025 Good Design Award from The Chicago Athenaeum: Museum of Architecture and Design and European Centre for Architecture, Art, Design, and Urban Studies.
At its heart, Ovo is a dual-function desk lamp and sculpture. Its design is reminiscent of the playful nature of a seesaw in search of balance.
On one end is a focused, task light for work or reading, while on the other end, a warm, ambient light perfect for relaxation or winding down in the evening.
You switch between these two modes simply by tilting it to one side or the other. Ovo is meant to be an interactive sculpture that rotates 360 degrees with a gentle nudge and allows you to toggle easily between work and relax mode.
It also offers 4 different brightness levels with simple, intuitive taps on the seamless stem. With a USB-C port and battery life of over 6 hours, Ovo delivers portability and versatility wherever you are.
Crafted with seamless precision using hi-grade anodised aluminum, its curved body is both minimal, yet sculptural and elegant.
The matte finish subtly enhances its presence, offering a soft visual and tactile experience. This industrial precision is thoughtfully complemented by a hand-crafted white opal blown glass diffuser for the globe, integrating an artistic touch within its functional design.
This smooth exterior conceals a complex electronics design, enabling users to experience the product through simple, intuitive movements.
