Designed to switch from a device hidden in a cupboard to a fully assumed decoration object, Livebox 6 by Jérôme Augui and Thomas Lauby of Orange is an internet gateway developed to be compatible with the new WiFi 6E standard and meets the needs of the whole family for better Wifi distribution.
Livebox 6 recently won a 2022 Good Design Award from The Chicago Athenaeum: Museum of Architecture and Design and The European Centre for Architecture Art Design and Urban Studies.
With the health crisis and the successive confinements, users have developed digital uses such as video meetings, online medical consultations, and online shopping.
Its vertical design has been thought to optimize the Wifi coverage and is inspired by the shapes and materials of interior furniture.
It takes into account environmental issues as it is easily repairable, made of 100% recycled and recyclable fabrics and plastic, and has a configurable standby mode to reduce energy consumption.
With its fabric cover and neutral color, the Livebox 6 changes from the classical design codes of plastic electronic devices.
Thanks to its vertical design, the Livebox 6 maximizes Wifi performance. It is also environmentally friendly with a repairable architecture, and a refurbishing process to extend the life of the product.
It is made with 100% recycled and recyclable plastics and fabrics and a low-consumption e-ink screen for reduced energy consumption.
The e-ink technology doesn’t use any energy for displaying information, only when it refreshes information.
Finally, it proposes two types of standby mode: light mode (VoIP still on) or deep mode, allowing for a reduction of its energy consumption respectively by 25% and 90%.
The e-ink touch screen allows you to access essential information and functions: automatic connection to the Wifi, internet speed test, the operating status of the gateway, and access to the My Orange app to manage your LAN.
