Danish designer Morten Nikolajsen designed the C9 Collection for the American Watson Furniture Group with the idea of achieving a more human office, providing an agile workplace solution through height-adjustable workstations, conference and meeting rooms and, ultimately, designed for real people who work best at their desk.
The Watson C9 system is a collection of workspace furniture designed with the human in mind.
To imagine the new furniture system, Nikolajsen, working with Watson designer Ethan Pearl, explored the open plan for insights. The result is a workstation that departs from the restrictive grid of traditional linear planning — bending space, improving sightlines, and helping people to flow more organically.
The result: the C9 system is perfectly suited for any open environment, with many options to create separation and privacy needed in the evolving office landscape.
Nikolajsen designed the C9 Desk to reflect a Scandinavian aesthetic blending functionality with a quiet, understated beauty. Four expertly engineered powered legs lift pendant storage and privacy screens in flow with the user.
With slender steel legs, an engineered steel and aluminum frame, and optional pendant storage, it’s easy to see that C9 embodies purposeful and minimal design.
Available privacy screens make your space feel even more personal in an open floor plan, while the flush surface-mounted switch and discreet motors put the finishing touches on this gallery-worthy piece.
At the workstation, the desk is supported with a power, voice and data distribution system called The Rail.
The C9 Rail has three unique innovations over previous PVD system; the joints between the segments house a patent pending mechanism to allow each segment to articulate 180 degrees with respect to the previous segment while keeping the cables contained from strain, the top of the rail is a continuous mounting slot so accessories can be positioned with freedom even spanning two segments and the duplex receptacles are hidden behind sliding panels to maintain a clean aesthetic.
Included with the rail system is a variety of accessories including divider screens, work shelves, planters, and a rail mounted light.
Fusing function and beauty, Nikolajsen’s C9 Meeting Tables work across the office with a slender profile that fits neatly into the modern aesthetic of today’s working spaces.
Wherever teams gather, the fixed-height tables can handle seated, counter, and bar height work-life with plenty of power options.
The meeting tables are constructed using the same frame components as the workstation desk with the inclusion of a T-joint casting so the tables can run to endless lengths.
The accessories included with the meeting tables have been purpose-built with the meeting table in mind to include undersurface openable cable trays, flexible cable towers and a frame attached large format screen mount.
Available privacy screens make your space feel even more personal in an open floor plan, while the flush surface-mounted switch and discreet motors put the finishing touches on this gallery-worthy piece.
Featuring a variety of heights, shapes, and depths, the options are practically endless, and with plenty of plugs and ports, so is the power supply.
You can even add a monitor to the end of the table, bringing projects and presentations to life.
The flexibility of C9 lets you transition from a workstation focused on density, to one focused on human needs. It can help distance workers appropriately and take maximum advantage of this extra space allotted to each person.
Now that we all know we can work from home, C9 can help make the office into a space people want to come into.
