Hallandale Beach, Florida, USA
American Prize for Architecture laureate Bernardo Fort-Brescia details Arquitectonica’s latest design for a multi-block district of residential and commercial buildings in Hallandale Beach, Florida.
Built on a 10-acre (4-hectare) lot located with close proximity to the beaches and nearby landmarks such as Gulfstream Park Racing and Casino and the renowned Aventura Mall, Oasis Hallandale I the city’s first major mixed-use development.
Comprised of restaurants, shops, creative offices and green spaces with an urban edge, the development is set to deliver the first true pedestrian-friendly city center to Hallandale Beach.
Two 25-story residential towers are in alignment forming a gateway offering ocean views and each tower containing 250 residential units typically 1,843 SF (171 m2). The design intent is so that the vertical curves erode the corners of the balconies in symmetry as the towers frame the skies.
The development is accessible through a striking main entrance that embodies an urban oasis and is framed by fountains and lushly landscaped greenery by ArqGeo.
The masterplan employs curvilinear design elements along the building facades to soften the corners of the balconies, creating a distinctive symmetrical silhouette that is set to become an architectural landmark for the city.
