French luxury maker Louis Vuitton premiered prototypes of a new cutting-edge fusion of technology and craft at the Cruise 2020 show in New York. Louis Vuitton calls these prototypes its most innovative “canvas,” yet. Fusing cutting-edge technology with the Maison’s signature savoir-faire, the new canvas displays moving images, while taking the form of some of Louis Vuitton’s most iconic bags.
One of the designs includes a single screen, while the others show two screens. Louis Vuitton is calling them a prototype design, and unless it is a work of art, having flexi-display handbags are probably the last thing one would need in the digitally fragile age.
The technology for these bags was the result of a collaboration with Royole Corporation, the leading innovator and manufacturer of advanced flexible displays, flexible sensors, and smart devices. The two brands worked together on the world’s first fashion handbags to feature fully flexible displays and sensors.
Bill Liu, CEO of Royole Corporation, said: “We are delighted to announce this new collaboration with Louis Vuitton, a legendary brand which we have always admired. Canvas of the Future shows how flexible displays and sensors are becoming embedded in our visions of the future in many different sectors. Louis Vuitton has done a fantastic job in incorporating our innovative technology into their elegant, iconic designs.”
