The Design-Duo “Hoffmann Kahleyss Design” has designed a dualistic piece of furniture, as harmonious as yin and yang.
Within the first year after the company was founded, the design duo Hoffmann Kahleyss Design created a piece of furniture for Freifrau that is already considered a classic today: Leya. The linear design of the frame and backrest shell harmonizes perfectly with the seats’ extra soft press release page 2 upholstery. Leya stands for irresistible seating comfort and has grown into an extensive collection family over the years. Smooth leather and soft fabrics complement the design and make the chairs, bar stools, benches, sofas, swings and rocking chairs in the Leya collection absolute eye catchers and favourites for a lifetime.
Thanks to the numerous models and designs, the Leya family is not only extremely versatile, but also easy to combine with each other and across collections. “The main challenge was to design the chair in such a way that the existing base frames of the Amelie model matched the new seat shell, in order to create a wide variety of models and variability,” recalls designer Birgit Hoffmann on the creation of today‘s Freifrau icon.

The sister collection Leyasol, launched in 2020, brings the elegance of Leyas’ design outdoors, and it includes armchairs, bar stools, swings, rocking chairs and two couches.
Leya beautifully combines contrasts. The rocking chair from the model series designed by Birgit Hoffmann and Christoph Kahleyss also appears clear and straightforward from the outside with its tightly upholstered shell.
However, anyone who sits down immediately feels comfortable. The outer upholstery reveals a fluffy cushion inside. An almost sensual experience. Sitting on this special design object and rocking back and forth is guaranteed to put you in a good mood. The Leya Lounge Chair features the same uniquely comfortable seat shell resting on perfectly balanced wooden runners and a graceful wire frame. It is available with a wide range of high-quality fabric and leather covers.
