Berlin, Germany
European Prize for Architecture Laureate (2016) LAVA architectural team has created a state-of-the-art campus of flexible offices and studios, inviting communal areas and rooftop gardens at a height of 25 meters – at the legendary Funkhaus Nalepastrasse, in Berlin.

The Nalepaland project was short-listed for a 2021 International Architecture Award from The Chicago Athenaeum and The European Centre for Architecture Art Design and Urban Studies.
It’s considered to be a new campus for Smart Creators will be built by 2024 in Berlin Oberschöneweide: Nalepaland. Nalepaland is a four-level building, pioneering a new creative hot spot located near the former East German broadcasting center.

The building has been designed as a transparent cube with a contextual facade and light-flooded atrium- a way to create community from the beginning.
The exterior facade is composed of reflective vertical elements determined by sun conditions. The lower facade aligns with the rhythm of the surrounding 1950s brick buildings, while the upper facade acts as a translucent shell that melts with the sky. The central atrium becomes a social machine for organizing flows.

The design is inspired by the broadcast studios in the building that occupied the site previously. It provides a robust industrial identity to the location. Designed as a vertical playground it connects people traveling in all directions.
Catwalks and open stairs make circulating a unique experience. On the ground level, the atrium is flanked by inviting and spacious common areas, at the top, roof gardens and balconies connect the atrium to the surroundings.
Nalepaland is open to any kind of ideas and will have flexible office spaces – from open-plan offices with up to 5,200 sqm to small studios. An Inspiring working environment for creative minds, pioneering a new location.
