Lars Hofmann and Lilienthal Lifestyle in collaboration with Berlin-based independent label Kaffeeform create the new Coffee Watch—the world’s first watch made out of recycled coffee which results in a slightly different watch case each time, creating a true one-of-a-kind watch.
The Coffee Watch’s project recently won a 2022 Green Good Design Award from The Chicago Athenaeum: Museum of Architecture and Design and The European Centre for Architecture Art Design and Urban Studies.

When it comes to sustainability in the watch industry, Lilienthal Lifestyle has been an early adopter of alternative materials and now discovers an even more unique material for this purpose: coffee.
Coffee grounds are processed with renewable and plant-based components and transformed into the exclusive Coffee Watch.
The coffee grounds are collected from Berlin cafés and roasters with the help of a fleet of bicycles and through an innovative process from Kaffeeform turned into a unique and robust material which become the watch case.

The coffee material is characterized by a fine coffee scent and a special marbled coffee look which is different for each case and creates unique pieces.
Since coffee and time simply go together, the time-out you allow yourself during the day for a little enjoyment is reflected in the entire design of the Coffee Watch.
On one hand, the shape, color, and feel of the round case are reminiscent of a coffee bean and of a cup on the other.
It also features a sophisticated design element as the crown is fully embedded in the back of the watch stylishly completing a harmoniously modern look.
Lilienthal Lifestyle designs the watch to be casual and a bit understated by incorporating a minimal Bauhaus style dial complete with a subtle sun-cut effect, thinned hour, and minute hands.
The core is made of stainless steel, so that the watch lasts for many years to come.

Finally, in order for the Coffee Watch to properly display the time at all times, a reliable and super precise quartz movement from the Swiss manufacturer Ronda has been incorporated.
With the Coffee Watch, Lilienthal Lifestyle wants to show just how exciting a sustainable lifestyle can be.
That it’s worth challenging the status quo; that it’s possible to make a watch out of something as seemingly useless as waste coffee grounds; that good-looking accessories can be compatible with premium quality and sustainability.
