West Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada

This modern beach house sits on a narrow waterfront lot in Kitsilano, Vancouver. Its interior palette is clean and restrained, complementing the strong architectural lines while providing a neutral backdrop for views of English Bay, the North Shore mountains, and the city skyline.
The north elevation is fully glazed, opening all three levels to light and expansive vistas.
Modern Beach House by Lamoureux Architect, won a Future House Award 2026 from The Chicago Athenaeum: Museum of Architecture and Design and Global Design News.

The main floor is organized as a bright, open living space with frameless floor-to-ceiling glazing. Elevated above grade, the interior feels as though it extends toward the ocean, echoing the experience of being on a boat. Oak flooring grounds the space, while visual continuity extends into landscaped side yards.
Carefully placed openings, including a continuous slot window and a transparent fireplace, maintain sightlines across the site. The kitchen is defined by black walnut cabinetry and a Calacatta marble island, creating a warm focal point.

Upstairs, the primary suite connects to a private sky garden, blending nature with bathing and sleeping spaces through layered transparency. Above, a rooftop terrace offers quiet privacy and panoramic views in all directions.
