Personalisation to the bottom of your heart, with no two kitchens in the world alike, was the core thought behind the “Katha” series of kitchens—an innovation by Würfel Küche. Each of us holds a story deep within, often never told or depicted, but a source of inspiration to us and our families. Katha brings these unique stories to life in the form of a “hand-sculpted” stone kitchen, making every creation an unparalleled masterpiece.
Katha by Wurfel Kuche, won a 2025 Good Design Award from The Chicago Athenaeum: Museum of Architecture and Design and European Centre for Architecture, Art, Design, and Urban Studies.

The process of crafting a Katha kitchen begins with the design team and an artist spending hours with the client. This immersive session helps uncover the story the client wants to express through their kitchen. Often, clients are unaware of the most significant aspects of their own narrative until this collaborative exploration brings them to light.
Once the story is understood, the design team works on developing the kitchen layout while the artist translates the narrative into a conceptual storyline. Together, they create a visual representation of the story on the kitchen design. This draft is shared with the client, ensuring it resonates deeply with their vision and is refined to perfection.

The beauty of a Katha kitchen lies in its artistry. A team of skilled stone sculptors, descended from families with a rich tradition of ancient stone carving, brings the design to life. Using only their hands and basic tools, these artisans meticulously sculpt the stone, infusing the kitchen with unique, organic textures that no machine can replicate.
The hand-sculpting process ensures each piece is distinct, with natural variations and intricate details that highlight the craftsmanship. This approach results in a design that is as authentic as the story it represents.

Once the sculpting is complete, the stonework is carefully integrated into the kitchen façade. This final assembly ensures that the artistic narrative aligns seamlessly with the functionality of a modern modular kitchen. The result is a kitchen that not only meets practical needs but also serves as a daily reminder of the client’s personal journey.
The Katha series is more than just a kitchen—it’s a manifestation of individuality. Each creation is a testament to the client’s story, brought to life through a blend of art, tradition, and innovation. With Katha, Würfel Küche has redefined modular kitchen design, delivering spaces that are deeply personal, one-of-a-kind, and truly close to the heart.
