Porto, Portugal
Located in the center of the city, Senior University by Joaquim Portela Arquitetos for PortoCCD is a new place for learning and living that creates ease of movement between inside and outside.

The building was inserted in an area of the city that is undergoing transformation.
The complex–senior university and residence—thus becomes an extension of a new green area for the city.
For its inclusive design, Senior University has recently been awarded a 2022 International Architecture Awards Honorable Mention by The Chicago Athenaeum: Museum of Architecture and Design and The European Centre for Architecture Art Design and Urban Studies.

Taking advantage of the height difference between squares and streets, it improves the interconnection between the buildings.
This allows fluid communication between the inside and outside, even for people with reduced mobility.

Elderly people play a very important role in the balance of society and are a social capital that no society can waste.
With this in mind, this project sought to provide efficient social responses in the provision of services and support social innovation.
