“Crystal is a fascinating and surprising material,” explains Jaime Hayón!
“Cut, sculpted, illuminated thanks to the talent of the craftsmen of baccarat, it reveals all its secrets.”
Imagined by Jaime Hayón, the Faunacrystopolis collection forms a happy tribe of six crystal animals in a limited edition, including a joyful frog with golden eyes!
With a happy tribe of six animals, in limited edition, Hayón offers a singular vision of wild fauna: an owl with a mesmerising look, a fox with a pointed muzzle, an adorable koala, a rabbit with erect ears, a mischievous monkey, a joyful frog.
“Each creature celebrates the beauty of nature, while, between fantasy and emotion, they reiterate the importance of protecting the world around us. Long live biodiversity,” continues the Valencia-based designer.
The koala is made of double-cased midnight blue crystal, its ears and nose in clear crystal and placed atop a white Carrara marble vase with thin grey veins too, crafted with clear crystal.
With boldness and generosity, once again managing to highlight the exceptional know-how of the manufacture.
Hayón gives a new twist to animal sculpture in a perfect balance between past and future, heritage and creation.
He revisits existing codes to invent new forms and recreate the personality of each species: the silhouettes, all in roundness, are adorned with electric shades, deep cuts and geometric patterns.
Placed on a marble base, each creature celebrates the beauty of nature, while, between fantasy and emotion, they reiterate the importance of protecting the world around us. Long live biodiversity!”
“The most important thing about the collection, it’s that we want to explore the beauty of crystal,” continues Hayón.
“I always said that it’s interesting to see how Baccarat is working with it, with all these centuries of history.”
“You can see how the magic of crystal actually comes when you start to explore the different cuts and you start to elaborate the flat crystal into something that becomes more optical. I wanted the people to discover the magic of crystal and its ability to bring these sort of incredible beauty and almost like vision to simple objects, objects that are more artistic and contemporary.”
This carnival of animals will cross oceans and continents throughout the year to be presented in Paris, Tokyo, New York, London, Moscow, Hong Kong, Shanghai, and Beijing.
