The Fascio Collection by Lauren Rottet for Visual Comfort & Co. takes its name from the Italian word ‘fascio,’ meaning ‘bundle’ and it is inspired by the visual of natural light striking bundles of reeds that each absorb the light and emit it individually in pinpoints yet collectively in beautiful organic forms.
This visual coupled with the idea of simple laboratory glass rods bundled together in elegant strappings is the concept behind Fascio.
Fascio Collection has been awarded a Prize Design for Modern Furniture + Lighting 2023 by Global Design News and The Chicago Athenaeum Museum for Architecture and Design.
The Fascio Collection brings LED technology to new levels of contemporary warmth. With Fascio, LED can turn into a romantic and moody light source.
The challenge for Lauren Rottet was to utilize LED technology removing the glare, yet not allowing it to appear too flat. The result is a beautiful, incandescent ambient light that radiates a glow from its center while fading as it reaches the fixture’s edge. The crystal rods help reduce the glare, as the light is refracted in them.
The collection, which includes sconces and pendants, is manufactured from highly refined, smooth-cut crystal wrapped in textured and smooth brass sleeves. Crystal was selected because it produces the right balance of sparkle and luxurious glow; wrapped in textured/smooth brass sleeves.
