The Crate Trinomino Leaf Eco Felt Acoustic Collection by Mary-Ann Williams of Illustration creates a better, healthier environment on both a small and large scale wherever they are placed.

For years, Illu Stration by Mary-Ann Williams has pursued the path of sustainability in design and manufacturing processes.
Its team of designers creates felt collections of natural, renewable, and sustainable materials with high durability and the idea of encouraging the re-assembly of their designs for new purposes.
Moving forward, they strive to enhance the sustainability of the materials used in a way that does not let the life cycle end after initial use.
Ultimately, less is more: Both in consumption of materials, water, and energy, as well as emissions of greenhouse gasses, plastic microfibres, organic compounds, and combustion ash.
For its ecological design, the series Crate Trinomino Leaf has recently been awarded a 2022 Green GOOD DESIGN Sustainability Award by The Chicago Athenaeum: Museum of Architecture and Design and The European Centre for Architecture Art Design and Urban Studies.

Inspired by Japanese triomino origami patterns and egg-crates, Crate Trinomino Leaf stands as a landmark in this collection.
A classic three-dimensional approach to room acoustics is combined with the more relevant than ever consideration of the design’s ecological impact.
Hence, as a sound-, toxin-, and formaldehyde-absorbing eco-conscious acoustic object, Crate Trinomino Leaf improves not only the small-scale environment of interiors by filtering and making healthier the indoor climate, but also aims to contribute to a larger scale by being conscious about its ecological footprint.
Ideal for state-of-the-art living, work, and hospitality spaces, Crate Trinomino Leaf is available as a wall panel, wallcovering, ceiling panel, baffles, lighting, design screens, privacy booth (islands), clouds, rugs, vases, bowls, baskets, tea lights, clipboards, jewelry, fashion, and other accessories.
The design naturally allows for storage capacities due to its unique form.
Furthermore, due to its modularity, the design can be expanded endlessly and rearranged according to user preference.

Due to its double-face nature, it offers two varying surface shapes.
Crate Trinomino Leaf is available in different sizes and shapes including cylinders, spheres, prisms, and curves.
Each Crate is handmade locally, in a solar-powered working environment, from natural, renewable felt, fabricated from recycled wool and mulesing-free merino-wool, a natural absorbent of sound, airborne toxins, and formaldehyde as well as an antibacterial agent.
The material is naturally flame-retardant and without any harmful substances.
Each Crate is also available in regular wool felt and leather felt.
Generally, wool felt, with its astounding environmental friendliness, holds insulating properties and natural breathing abilities, by absorbing and releasing moisture from the air, acting as a natural air-conditioning.
