Stark Scott Studio designed Palmera, a collection of outdoor furniture for Pavilion Furniture that is influenced by the ancient Caribbean craft of making hammocks, known for their comfort and utility, reductive materiality, and tensile strength.
Palmera Collection has been awarded a 2023 Good Design Award by The Chicago Athenaeum Museum of Architecture and Design and The European Centre for Architecture Art Design and Urban Studies.
The Palmera Collection, which is Spanish for palm tree, manages through its design that mimics the curve of a palm frond.
The lounge and dining chair’s gestural lines and tapered legs are echoed in the complementary dining tables, creating a timeless and cohesive aesthetic.
The curved, relaxed seat cushions hug the frame and the occupant, and the placement, shape, and conformity of the built-in lumbar support enhance the leisurely comfort.
