Industrial designer Jarret Volkoff and Hydro Flask present the Outdoor Kitchen Collection, following the company’s mission to eliminate single-use products polluting our planet while elevating the outdoor experiences that bring people together in a meaningful, inclusive way.
The project has been awarded a 2021 Good Design Award by The Chicago Athenaeum: Museum of Architecture and Design and The European Centre for Architecture Art Design and Urban Studies.
It is also created to combat the true competitors in this space – the paper and plastic containers that people bring with them into nature (and ultimately leave behind) – by replacing them with reusable multipurpose dining and serving tools that are durable for life.
Ready to rough it outdoors, yet sleek enough for the dining table, Outdoor Kitchen delivers Hydro Flask’s innovative performance with features like pro-grade stainless steel construction and all-new TouchShieldTM double wall insulation to keep hot foods hot and cold foods cold while shielding hands from temperature transfer.
Stackable designs make pieces easy to store, transport, and carry – especially packed inside the self-standing tote. The versatile collection also features Hydro Flask’s proprietary Color LastTM powder coat, which is completely dishwasher safe, and available in three colors: Pineapple, Olive, and the warm neutral Birch.
Βecause pieces are sold separately, consumers have the option to curate their Outdoor Kitchen collection and mix and match the colors they choose.
The complete Outdoor Kitchen collection includes:
The 10” Plate is double-walled with a silicone dampener to help lessen the noise of silverware against the stainless steel plates.
The 1qt, 3qt, and 5qt serving bowls with lids, with double wall insulation, able to keep all contents at the perfect temperature while your hands stay comfy, even when contents are hot or icy cold. Press-in lids and nested designs provide spill-free, convenient carry, and storage, available in various sizes to accommodate both serving and individual dining.
The 12oz outdoor tumbler with an insulated press-in lid has double-wall vacuum insulation in a narrow design that fits any car and camp chair cup holder. Features internal measurement markers ideal for outdoor cooking.
The flatware set with 18/8 pro-grade stainless steel is ready for mealtime anywhere, while the carry sleeve and stackable design makes storage and travel a breeze.
A 2-piece serving spoon set with a slotted spoon for draining liquids, solid spoon for hefty scoops, or put them together to mix and toss greens.
Last, it comprises also a 34lt outdoor tote bag with a self-standing dual-carry designed with ample storage, durable abrasion, tear-resistant exterior, and coated interior that’s a snap to clean.
The design teams employ copious research into emerging trends and shifts in consumer behaviors to inform the balance of design appeal and construction.
Outdoor Kitchen’s sleek silhouettes meet consumer desire for simplicity while also conveying a sense of value, allowing for easy transition from the backyard to the basecamp.
Color tones also bridge home and outdoors, from rich olive to the warm neutral homage to clay stoneware.
Gathering around a table means a lot of dishes left over. That’s why creating every piece of Outdoor Kitchen to be dishwasher safe was essential as an extension of bringing the comforts of home outdoors.
The key differentiator of Outdoor Kitchen is Hydro Flask’s double-wall stainless steel insulation, a feature that we just don’t see in consumer dining outside of the restaurant space, and there are currently no other insulated plates on the market.
Likewise, the accompanying lids separate the collection from competition while mapping back to the core design tenants and key elements of functionality.
This collection delivers a fresh, functional approach to camping and dining outdoors – with every piece thoughtfully designed to be as versatile at home as the outdoors, allowing consumers to do the things they love without having to buy more stuff that clutters up their daily lives.
