Designed by Hung-Ming Chen and Chen-Yen We of the Swedish-based studio Afteroom for Keilhauer, Melete is a modern, multi-purpose chair that is grounded in timeless Swedish and Japanese design sensibilities.
“Melete is a beautiful, durable chair that is all about its sculptural look and feel,” states Mike Keilhauer, president of Keilhauer.
A minimalist silhouette that moves you before even taking a seat, the Melete chair’s flowing lines aren’t just for show.
As comfortable as it is adaptable, Melete elevates the form of any workspace in timeless style without ever forgetting the importance of function.
The chair’s clean lines, midcentury modern styling and Swedish design principles make Melete a standout piece in any room.
With the versatility of several unique configurations, this contract furniture has the ability to elevate almost any environment, providing elegance and a unique beauty to the design space.
The soft curves of Melete outline the balance between functionality and aesthetics, which are combined with a functional structure that ensures comfort and durability.
“The original goal with Melete was to design a contract furniture as a modular seat that could match different backs and legs according to the customer’s needs, thereby creating a single chair that could be extended into a complete series,” states Hung- Ming Chen and Chen-Yen Wei, co-designers and co-founders of Afteroom.
“Whether with arms or armless, café height, bar height or conference height, Melete is a flexible design solution for the office and even the home,” adds Keilhauer.
Hung-Ming Chen and Chen-Yen Wei’s mission is simply to create beautiful products that will add value over time—design to grow old with.
Their inspiration derives from an interest in intriguing forms, senses, proportions, materials, and cultures.
Their philosophy pivots around simplicity and honesty.
