Krado Leaflet is a smart plant sensor designed by Hatch Duo that monitors and tracks plants’ needs and behaviors to help provide the best care for the plant and prevent problems before they start.
By utilizing a highly precise technology, called AgTech, the Krado Leaflet sensor measures moisture, temperature, humidity, and light quality.
It then shares that information straight to the user’s phone with a detailed care guide to ensure the best quality of life for their plant.
Krado Leaflet has been awarded a 2023 Good Design Award by The Chicago Athenaeum Museum of Architecture and Design and The European Centre for Architecture Art Design and Urban Studies.
Hatch Duo, led by designers Jonathan Thai and Michael Yim, partnered with Krado to create an accessible object that is not only plant-friendly but also user-friendly.
Along with their industrial design and mechanical engineering teams, they designed and engineered the Krado Leaflet, packaging, and application.
Regarding the design of the sensors, the design team drew inspiration directly from the environment the Leaflet would live in. The leaf silhouette is unobtrusive and blends seamlessly into its environment.
A fine design detail is that the sensor emits a subtle glow that resembles the soft daylight or warm candlelight often surrounding plants.
The Krado Leaflet housing is 100% 3D printed using the latest additive manufacturing practices and the plastic used is fully recyclable and reusable.
The Krado Leaflet app works in harmony with the sensor to help you better care for your plants at home. Through the Leaflet app, the user can log entries on how their plant is doing, complete daily plant care tasks, and gain advice on how to best look after their plants.
They can also peruse the marketplace to purchase new plant nutrients and tools helpful to their plants.
Hatch Duo designed also the Krado Leaflet packaging in a way that is fully recyclable and sustainable, while it reflects the product’s minimalism and intuitive design.
