Castelnau-le-lez, France
French Product designer Hansel Schloupt along with educational toys’ manufacturerOPPI® designed Piks, a creative toy designed to develop children’s attention and concentration.

Piks’ design was recently awarded Good Design 2021 by The Chicago Athenaeum: Museum of Architecture and Design and The European Centre for Architecture Art Design and Urban Studies.
With its fresh and colorful cones as its natural eco-friendly wooden boards, this endless creative toy is specially designed to offer a new dynamic of construction and a new open-ended way to play.

The aim of the toy is simple: to create the most original structure by positioning all of the pieces without any of them falling down.
The silicone holds the wood in place, allowing for a myriad of construction possibilities and enhancing kids to imagine their own world.

Children explore then the intricacies of balance while decisionmaking, motor skills, and imagination all come into play transforming the players into artists in a performance of concentration and skill.
Piks’ design has been finalized thanks to the collaboration with educational specialists.

Because of the commitment of OPPI® to offer a toy that develops concentration skills, the design team decided to seek inspiration from the field of education, more precisely from kids’ concentration disorders ADHD.
By conducting design research – consulting child psychiatrists or occupational therapists – they were able to identify a list of the most important children’s cognitive needs to increase and provide a playful, educational and inclusive solution for every child.
