Marc Fornes, the architect and artist behind THEVERYMANY, collaborated with Porsche to create an innovative sculpture as part of the launch event for the all-electric Porsche Macan in Singapore.
This project, unveiled during Singapore Art Week 2024, represents a fusion of automotive and architectural design philosophies.
The installation, titled My Two Cars Garage, is a self-supporting structure composed of over 6,000 uniquely shaped, ultra-thin aluminum strips.
It spans 13.3 meters in length, 10.8 meters in width, and 7 meters in height.
Its curvilinear form echoes the sleek design language of the Macan while also reflecting Fornes’ expertise in lightweight, performance-driven architectural forms.
The structure creates an immersive space, using lighting to convey a sense of motion and highlighting its engineering intricacy.
Prefabrication techniques enabled efficient assembly.
This collaboration, detailed in Porsche’s Style Porsche x Marc Fornes series, emphasized shared values between the two disciplines, such as engineering precision and the creation of unique, experiential designs.
The sculpture was both a centerpiece of the Macan’s launch, moving beyond traditional unveiling practices to offer a dynamic and memorable experience for every visitor that engages with the space in different ways, depending on the time of day.
During the day, the sunlight filters through, creating ever-changing patterns of light and shadow. During the night, the structure glows from within, evoking a sense of motion and adding a layer of spectacle to its architectural presence.
