Conceived as a welcoming and immersive space, Estar de Encantos Deca, designed by architect Bianca Rieg, invites visitors on a sensory journey through the largest interior design and architecture exhibition in the Americas. Spanning approximately 95 square meters, the space encourages relaxation and meaningful interaction through a layout that enhances circulation and supports multiple ways of inhabiting the environment.
Inspired by this year’s theme “Sowing Dreams,” the project transforms the living space into fertile ground for imagination, where design becomes the seed for memories, inspiration, and desires. It’s an invitation to experience the home as an extension of the soul—where beauty and affection flourish in every detail. Each corner is crafted to evoke sensations ranging from enchantment to nostalgia, through playful elements, tactile materials, and symbolic objects that reinforce the idea of a space where dreams are not only born, but nurtured.
The environment combines references from maximalism with a retro-inspired aesthetic and a dreamlike, almost theatrical touch. The result is a visual narrative that weaves together memory and imagination. Every element is designed to surprise and move, reflecting the gaze of someone sensitive and multifaceted—someone who values affection, memories, and the joy of being at home. Whether an artist, a collector, or an urban dreamer, this is a space to reconnect with what truly matters.

A bold and contrasting color palette, together with strong elements of emotional design and sensory refuge, guide the project. The design process was grounded in emotional storytelling, resulting in a space that resonates with the imagination. Visual references emerged from personal archives, vintage magazines, films, and photographs evoking a slower, more sensitive time—curated through an intuitive and emotional lens.
Among the highlights are unexpected material combinations, such as cotton branch wallpaper applied to the ceiling and coatroom, handcrafted sconces with jute threads, and floor tiles used as if they were rugs. The project balances technology, sustainability, and art while exploring contrasts through natural textures and refined details. The color palette blends soft tones like sky blue, pinks, and earthy hues with the vibrant, unexpected red of the lighting fixtures.
One particularly meaningful piece is a porcelain soup tureen from the 1950s, inherited from the architect’s grandmother. Slightly chipped with time, the piece evokes family gatherings, care, and hospitality around the table. By incorporating it into the space, the architect draws a poetic connection between past and present, honoring her roots and loved ones within a contemporary proposal.
A 10-meter-long entrance hall with a large window introduces a sense of mystery before revealing the open-plan kitchen. The seven-meter island is connected to the living area through carefully positioned furniture that encourages long conversations and moments of true disconnection. The layout respects wide circulation paths and accommodates users with reduced mobility. Thermal and visual comfort were considered from the start, with choices that balance aesthetics and functionality.

The project features an emotional curation of elements, such as Louis XV armchairs reinterpreted with red and white stripes, emotionally charged vintage finds, and artworks by both emerging and established artists. Custom handmade sconces using natural materials were created exclusively for Estar de Encantos. The red Sacurá pendant light by Cris Bertolucci stands out alongside pieces by José Gonçalves and the iconic Tajá chair by Sergio Rodrigues.
Technological solutions are subtly integrated. The Orbe touchless faucet by Deca ensures water efficiency and refined design, while the Deca Funstation sink with bamboo accessories brings organization and charm to the kitchen. A layered lighting system allows for different moods and functions, with dimmable LED strips creating atmospheric settings and acoustic treatment enhancing auditory comfort.
Natural light is maximized through large openings along the hallway, in harmony with layered artificial lighting that combines task, ambient, and accent light. Cross ventilation is respected and complemented by light curtains and low furniture, ensuring both visual flow and thermal comfort. The project also embraces sustainability through low-impact materials, water-saving fixtures, LED lighting, restored furniture, and partners committed to social and environmental responsibility.
Estar de Encantos Deca seeks to harmonize sensory experience and technical performance through a flexible layout, versatile furnishings, strategic use of color, and an integration of light, ventilation, and acoustics.
