Kütahya, Turkey
Kütahya Porselen Design Center and Ecren İlter present a porcelain tableware collection inspired by roses’ petals that offers a nice, soft, and organic feeling when holding them in your hand.
The project has been awarded a 2021 Good Design Award by The Chicago Athenaeum: Museum of Architecture and Design and The European Centre for Architecture Art Design and Urban Studies for its refined design.
Rosa has to be seen as a whole.
When the flat plate, deep plate, and bowl come together as petals, they create a rose appearance.
The pieces of Rosa are designed by stylizing petals minimally.
All pieces can be stacked on top of each other despite their organic form.
Salt and pepper shakers are the emotional pieces of the collection.
Their form is more organic and softer which provides a nice feeling when holding them in the palm of your hand.
Rosa has two alternative CMF options.
While the creamy-colored Rosa has a bone porcelain body and shiny transparent glaze, the rose pink one has a colored soft porcelain body and semi-matte transparent glaze.
Social changes caused by the pandemic highlighted the importance of nature and its healing power.
Rosa used this power of nature, in the feeling of the collection by taking the natural forms as an inspiration.
Pandemic also made the time spent at home more important.
A tableware collection inspired by nature gives an opportunity to create peaceful moments at home in a special way.
It gives the user an opportunity to create different arrangements by placing the plates at different angles and relaxing the effect of building a bouquet.
Creating a form close to a circle in the upper view enables the plates stackable in all directions.
It provides convenience in carrying and storage. Such inspirational designs are hard to manufacture in an industrial environment.
Rosa creates a natural feeling although it is mass-produced.
The new motto of Kütahya Porcelain, “inspire,” aims to do just that; inspire its users with the products it designed which in turn are inspired by things we admire.
Rosa also aims to inspire users to live as part of nature.
Rosa is a tableware collection that will make users feel good about the time spent at home during and after the pandemic, tension, and uncertainty.
Porcelain is a material that does not harm nature and can be used for many years.
In addition, Rosa can be used as a decoration object after the end of its life as tableware thanks to its aesthetic form.
