Office Space of Dongfeng Park 3# Yard by Zhang Chunli of Beijing China Virtue Architectural Design Co., Ltd. provides a range of spaces that cater to the well-being of its employees.
Located between the East 4th-5th Ring Road of Beijing City, Dongfeng park is a suburban city park that functions as one part of the green belt safeguarding the city of Beijing.
This office project in the Dongfeng park becomes an ideal working space for the designers of Beijing China Virtue Architectural Design Co., Ltd.
Office Space of Dongfeng Park 3# Yard has recently been awarded a 2022 International Architecture Awards Honorable Mention by The Chicago Athenaeum: Museum of Architecture and Design and The European Centre for Architecture Art Design and Urban Studies.
The primary consideration of the plan was to implement energy conservation and emission reduction strategies by minimizing the building volume.
Environmentally friendly, energy-saving, and renewable materials were selected and appropriate construction measures were adopted.
The courtyard was designed to be harmonious with the park environment.
As a design studio, four spatial layout areas are set according to the daily functional requirements of designers.
Its chief architect and principal of the office, Zhang Chunli, hopes to provide the staff with an enjoyable space where one can feel relaxed and closer to nature.
The entrance lobby provides space for communication, such as group dining, a bar area, and meetings.
Furthermore, it can be flexibly separated and merged with the nearby fitness area through a sliding door, which can be enlarged for hosting art exhibitions.
The meeting room on the west side is equipped with panoramic glass curtain walls on both the north and south sides.
The office area on the north side is the working area for the design team.
The main structure of the new building adopts a recyclable steel structure and a three-layer hollow + low-E glass curtain wall.
The building uses an energy-saving system for heating and cooling, and the external wall and roof are installed with thermal insulation layers to ensure energy conservation and emission reduction for the entire year.
Solar-powered showers are provided for use after fitness.
In addition, French windows are used on the south side of the open office area so that the staff working inside can access the warmth of the sun and the natural landscape in the courtyard.
The courtyard on the south side of the building can be used for daily leisure and team gatherings.
The ground is paved with old stone collected from “Anhui” old buildings, representing the old paving styles from the Ming and Qing Dynasties.
The original trees, flowers, and plants were retained in the courtyard, shaping a classic and relaxing atmosphere.
The roof is accessible and is the perfect place for relaxing.
By placing more attention on the designer’s well-being and working conditions, their physical and mental health, the project sets new standards for offices.
