Bell is a design stool created by Changgon Lee for Patra Co. that can be used for various space settings, such as home and office, and in “infinite” ways, even as a bed for your cat while you are working.
Bell has been awarded a 2023 Good Design Award by The Chicago Athenaeum: Museum of Architecture and Design and The European Centre for Architecture Art Design and Urban Studies.
Bell got its design motif from the shape of a round bell and designed it by connecting it in a simple form based on the usage patterns of stools used as various auxiliary chairs.
It consists of a rotating seat, a storage body, and a base. It has a simple and concise shape, but it greatly improves usability.
In particular, the arch shape, which is a feature of the product, increases the possibility of utilization by creating usable space at the bottom.
It has a structure that is good for loading and unloading while sitting without distinction of front and back.
The small but cozy space is a good nest for napping pets such as small dogs and cats. When used with other chairs, an additional optional cushion is placed on the base to support the feet to reduce fatigue, and a portable light can be inserted to create a warm mood space.
Structurally, the arch maintains durability while using less material. In addition, the appropriate elasticity of plastic is added to relieve shock and fatigue when seated.
The seat separated during manufacturing is put into the body to minimize the package and reduce logistics costs while considering user convenience so that only the seat can be used immediately.
All parts are detachable, and cycles for the environment, such as renewable materials and sewing replacement, are considered.
