Stockholm, Sweden
Designed by Stockholm-based design group Afteroom and manufactured by Keilhauer, Melete is a modern, multi-purpose chair that is grounded in timeless Swedish and Japanese design sensibilities.
Melete chair has recently been awarded a 2022 Good Design Award by The Chicago Athenaeum: Museum of Architecture and Design and The European Centre for Architecture Art Design and Urban Studies.
With the versatility of several unique configurations, it has the ability to elevate almost any environment, providing elegance, and unique beauty to the space.
In addition to its base, Melete is constructed from just two sculptural pieces – the backrest and seat – that join together to create a chair whose shape is welcoming and friendly.
Melete’s backrest supportively curves around the user’s body, opening up into two armrests that encourage the user to sit down, relax, and stay awhile.
The soft curves of Melete outline the balance between functionality and aesthetics, which are combined with a functional structure that ensures comfort and durability.
The chair’s clean lines, mid-century modern styling, and Swedish design principles will make Melete a standout piece in any room.
This is Keilhauer’s first collaboration with Afteroom. With three available heights – side, counter, and bar – five base options, and available with or without arms, the Melete chair adds elegance and customizable versatility to any element of the workspace, from offices and boardrooms to corridors and lounges.
