“The design of the chair is like a static sculpture that comes alive with movement when in use,”states Jonathan Prestwich.
Designed by Jonathan Prestwich and Burkhard Vogtherr, the M75 is a modern take on a Davis classic. Based on the concept of the Motion chair designed by Burkhard Vogtherr in 1987.
M75 addresses this new way of life by bringing an elegant calm to our environment with a visually quiet design and intelligent adaptive ergonomics. M75 — designed as Davis Furniture Industries’ 75th Anniversary chair.
The geometry of the chair is designed so that the user acts as a counterweight for the movement of the seating mechanism.
Vogtherr and Prestwich took certain aspects of the Motion chair, namely the ideal comfort and the revolutionary seating mechanism, and worked to create the same result through a more sophisticated and modern design.
To do this, Vogtherr & Prestwich designed an executive chair with no visible adjustment components, the entirety of the seating mechanism is built into the body of the chair itself. M75’s design is centered on the idea of taking away distractions.
“With advances in communication technology, we find ourselves permanently available, globally connected and highly stimulated,” continues. Prestwich.
“M75 addresses this new way of life by bringing an elegant calm to our environment with a visually quiet design and intelligent adaptive ergonomics.”
The design of M75 intentionally conceals its mechanism and any trace of construction.
Visually communicating only comfort and elegance, bringing calm that does not demand attention or technical understanding.
When sitting on M75 the only adjustment needed is the seat height.
The mechanism adapts automatically to each individual’s weight with no need for technical understanding, avoiding distraction and fitting seamlessly into our lives.
M75 is available with mid or high back, aluminum loop or upholstered arm.
The aluminum loop arm is available with or without an arm pad.
