Brazil’s leading designer, Jader Almeida, who also serves as the designer and creative director of the SOLLOS. brand, presents his newest creation: the Bird sunshade, which becomes part of the firm’s outdoor portfolio.
Bird sunshade was recently awarded Good Design 2020 by The Chicago Athenaeum.
The new shade’s sheet-shaped piece allows movement at different angles and is designed to rotate 360 degrees to the axis perpendicular to the ground.
Bird Shade departs from the premise of filtering the sun throughout the day and maintaining a soft shadow and rotating and moving functionality.
The metallic lattice of the piece and stripped design, are features easily identified in the products developed by designer Almeida.
“Each design challenge is an interesting opportunity to develop a product. Bird breaks a paradigm – it’s functional and poetic at the same time,” states Almeida.
“We live in a country with a continental dimension, with miles of beaches and sunshine almost all year long.”
