Brad Ascalon’s new Sosia coffee table collection, manufactured by Civil, redefines sustainable design through its innovative technical characteristics that reduce shipping volume by 80 percent.

Sosia Coffee Table Collection is a project born from conversations on circular design between Ascalon and Civil’s owner, Kristoffer Vestre.
Sosia Table’s design and sustainable concept recently won a 2022 Green Good Design Award from The Chicago Athenaeum: Museum of Architecture and Design and The European Centre for Architecture Art Design and Urban Studies.

The geometry of the frame allows it to ship flat and be assembled in minutes, reducing the size of the box, and hence, its carbon footprint from shipping by more than 80%.
The structure of the frame creates an interesting, geometric shadow effect on the floor.

The table is dynamic in both the viewing angle and the way the light casts its shadows from different angles. As you cluster more tables together, the interplay of geometry among the tables is quite breathtaking.

“Sosia is a circular story from the start. The innovative technical design makes it possible to ship it in a flat box, which significantly reduces the carbon footprint from transportation. Every part of the table is sustainably sourced and can easily be replaced if needed. Also, the frame is 100% recyclable at its eventual end of life,” explains Brad Ascalon.
