“La Collection Privée of Christian Dior is an olfactory world bursting with beauty and sophistication. With this collaboration, I wanted to visualize and incarnate the story of each of these exceptional fragrances through spectacular floral sculptures.” Azuma Makoto, Master florist.
Japanese floral artist Azuma Makoto collaborates with French fashion house Dior and creates a collection of sculptures, all inspired by La Collection Privée, Dior’s latest perfumes.
Makoto created six different botanical sculptures visualizing the story of each fragrance in the form of layered flowers. The collection consists of Sakura, Gris Dior, Lucky, La Colle Noire, Jasmin des Anges, and Oud Ispahan.
The Sakura fragrance is inspired by the moment when the cherry trees blossom in the spring. So, Makoto chose to create a light, subtle composition of cherry blossoms and other pink flowers, symbolizing the strong yet understated sense of beauty in Japan.
Jasmine des Anges is inspired him to create a bouquet of flowers with honey hues, while the La Colle Noir which is a unisex fragrance with a heavy floral heart was recreated through arrangements of blossoming roses.
Azuma Makoto decided to express his art through incredibly poetic floral sculptures, capturing the fleeting beauty of nature.
