“Separate to unify, a continuous redefinition of private space in dialogue with the common environment. The end user becomes co-designer of the project, no longer a static, but a Metamorphic actor.”
SKINì is a modular and flexible partition system designed by Franco Driusso of Driusso Associati Architects for SKEMA.
The name Skinì comes from the Greek word ‘σκηνή’, or, ‘scene.’
The partition adapts to different spaces, in size and shape, as well as due to its wide range of finishings.
Skinì has recently been awarded a 2022 International Architecture Awards Honorable Mention by The Chicago Athenaeum: Museum of Architecture and Design and The European Centre for Architecture Art Design and Urban Studies.
The basic module of Skinì consists of a polypropylene core, enclosed by two covers, on the front and on the back.
The cover shells are conceived in a multitude of materials and surface textures.
The series includes three cover families.
TECH is made of injection-folded polypropylene, with numerous surface finishes.
ORGANIC comes in wood or ceramic in different finishes.
TEXTILE is made of sound-absorbing polyester, covered with fabric.
Alternative versions include integrated audio or video playback systems as well as inductive power charging.
The great variety offers the end user great freedom of customization during the composition of the partition.
From the logistic point of view, the extreme decomposability of Skinì allows optimized storage space and transportation.
As a manifesto of the evolutionary design for Skemaidea, this is one of their most innovative products yet.
