German designer Andreas Störiko’s AS 100 and 400 series is a collection of mobile nesting chairs and tables produced by Danish manufacturer Howe a/s that allows for truly flexible use of space with the concept you can “feel free to work where you want.”
The scope and quantity of Störiko’s work seem like he is dedicated to the greatest cause – to design a minimal stacking chair. With minimalization being the end state in all senses: materials, weight, volume and cost.
The furniture is characterized by its innovative attitude toward mobility. As HOWE has always been looking for truly original ideas that contribute to flexibility and space-saving solutions as well as represent great design and quality.
All nesting tables and chairs in the AS series come with a mobile wheel-base. With a light “push,” you can create new furnishing dynamics that maintain a harmonious design language throughout your interiors.
Störiko designed the smart and comfortable AS100 swivel chair whose quality immediately stands out.
The chair is the perfect alternative for the well-known vertical stacking chair. It allows quick and effortless movement. Lots of chairs can be pushed with ease into the lift, storage or across the room.
It gives the furnishing freedom to adapt the settings spontaneously according to the rising need.
Moreover, the nesting module was designed to save as much space as possible. It is a comfortable meeting swivel chair, when stacked horizontally, is easy to handle and uses very little space.
For most that would be sufficient, but he took its design further to meet the growing need for flexible settings and agile processes — for the mobility and freedom to rearrange work, study, and meeting spaces at whim.
Its patented “horizontal stack” plus mobile wheel-base make the AS100 easily nested, rolled across the aisle and into the storage room, or lifted by one person.
Lightweight and space-saving, too, the AS100 offers both operational efficiency and enduring creativity.
The AS400 tables are smart and d elegant. Thanks to their mobile wheel-base, they are also unbelievably easy to maneuver.
Their intuitive flip-top mechanism and incomparable nest-ability allow you to flip them, bind them together, and move them from room to room by its handle — all effortlessly. No need to load the tables back and forth on trolleys or wait on staff assistance.
The AS400 tables meet the growing need for flexibility across agile work, study, and meeting spaces. The tables give the freedom to create configurations at will.
The AS linking’s smart elastic cord makes it easy to firmly join tables any way you want. AS500 stands for a bar height version with round or square table top.
Howe furniture was founded in 1928 in Connecticut by Harold Howe. Inspired by the early Bauhaus movement – and the principle of form following function – Howe started out making just about any furniture that was simple and outstandingly flexible. The firm takes pride in continuing to explore this modern design tradition.
The firm believe that all of its furniture solutions must be foldable or stackable, thus creating space for multiple use in any given room. The company adheres to the idea that furniture shouldn’t define the limitations of a room. Every room should support and facilitate the ability to think and act freely.
“I hope my designs are ideal for an age in which the internet allows people to work and hold meetings anywhere and leave the traditional office environment,” states Störiko.
