Designed by Andreas Krob of B4K for Czech manufacturer LD Seating, the FollowMe task chair impresses visually with a modern and timeless shape.
Its simple and elegant appearance is accentuated by an aluminum structure that elegantly connects the backrest with the five-star frame.
Just as the backrest nestles against this frame, so does the user’s body nestle against the chair.
FollowMe surprises you with a very special solution: thanks to a sophisticated interior, the backrest bends in any direction, depending on the movement of the body.
A feeling of stability and safety is always maintained, because the honeycomb system, made of a polypropylene-glass fiber mixture in a vortex-like shape, accompanies the movement rather than giving in to it.
“After numerous tests to develop this new structure, we were able to produce a very complex mold for plastic injection molding. This plastic part, which is mounted on the aluminum frame, offers a wide range of possibilities with different upholstery options,” explains designer Andreas Krob.
Whether you lean back to think, stretch up to take a deep breath, or dare to look over your shoulder: every small and large movement in the back is promptly reacted to in the backrest and thus keeps it in supported flexibility.
The ergonomics of the chair also support the spine with a seat that rises slightly towards the back.
In this way, the back naturally finds its double-S-shaped position, without any lumbar support or deliberately attentive sitting.
“When you sit on a flat surface, your pelvis tilts back. The spine is deformed from its S-shape into a simple curve, which places an uneven load on the intervertebral discs. If nothing is done about it, the pain will be permanent,” states Krob.
With the position of the pelvis specified by FollowMe, this incorrect strain is automatically prevented.
The cover of the FollowMe office chair is available in many colors and the overall picture is enlivened by the slightly transparent covering on the back of the backrest.
It offers a suggestive insight into the flexibly supporting honeycomb structure.
The chair will be available in Spring 2023.
