Alice is a sculptural and imaginative interpretation of the classic double-chambered Turkish teapot, crafted primarily from transparent borosilicate glass.
Drawing inspiration from the whimsical world of Alice in Wonderland, the design offers a playful and poetic take on a cultural ritual that spans generations.
Alice Turkish Teapot by Emsan Mutfak Gereçleri Sanayi Ve Ticaret A.Ş., won a 2025 Good Design Award from The Chicago Athenaeum: Museum of Architecture and Design and European Centre for Architecture, Art, Design, and Urban Studies.
Designed as a two-part system, the lower chamber boils water while the upper chamber brews tea, following traditional Turkish tea culture principles.
However, Alice distinguishes itself with a slightly tilted upper pot that redefines the object’s balance and silhouette.
This intentional asymmetry creates a sense of motion even when still, transforming it from a functional kitchen tool into a visually captivating centrepiece.
The slanted placement of the upper pot is an aesthetic decision and enhances the brewing process, allowing the tea to steep more efficiently and releasing deeper aromas.
In this way, Alice offers a multisensory experience that blends tradition, performance, and emotion.
Although primarily made of glass, Alice features an integrated metal base for improved heat conduction and stability.
The use of fully recyclable materials reinforces its sustainable identity, while its transparency reveals the brewing process, highlighting the purity and lightness of the material and turning tea preparation into a visual performance.
The carefully engineered spouts are designed to minimise dripping and splashing, ensuring a smooth and clean pour. This contributes to both hygiene and elegance, essential qualities in a ritual deeply rooted in hospitality.
Amber-coloured glass handles provide ergonomic comfort and a warm contrast against the clear body, subtly accenting the design without disrupting its minimalist integrity.
Alice invites users to slow down, observe, and connect with the intimate moments hidden in everyday rituals. It elevates the simple act of brewing tea into an emotional and intentional experience.
