The Adaptive Illuminated Artefact Shelf light is an elegant, multipurpose wall-mounted solution that blends display, lighting, and storage into a seamless form.
Designed with a minimalist wraparound silhouette, the product intuitively communicates its function while elevating any interior or semi-exterior environment.
Bajaj Shelf Light by Bajaj Electricals R&D Division, won a 2025 Good Design Award from The Chicago Athenaeum: Museum of Architecture and Design and European Centre for Architecture, Art, Design, and Urban Studies.
In many homes, shelves are used to display small, meaningful items – books, figurines, planters, trophies or framed photos.
In the Indian context, it’s also common to place a deity idol above the main door, often lit by a basic bulb or tube light.

This setup usually results in cluttered wiring, inadequate illumination, and a lack of aesthetic integration with the space.
At Bajaj Electricals Limited, we identified this unmet need and developed a unique proposition: a seamless solution that integrates focused lighting with an elegant display platform.
The result is not only visually refined but also cost-effective and functionally superior.
Designed for simplicity and versatility, this shelf is easy to install and operate.
It mounts securely to the wall using a keyhole or bracket mechanism and is powered through a standard plug-in connection.

For increased flexibility, the design also supports a rechargeable battery-operated variant. The integrated LED lighting system consists of two concealed sources – one at the front and one at the rear: each with a distinct functional intent.
The front diffuser is angled precisely to cast uniform light on the placed artefacts, such as books, planters, photo frames, trophies or deity idols, while avoiding direct glare.
The rear light projects decorative ambient patterns or a light wash onto the wall surface, adding depth and mood.
The rear diffuser is customisable, allowing users to adapt the lighting expression to personal taste or spatial context.
Constructed using high-quality aluminium extrusions and durable plastic end caps, the shelf structure allows for length customisation – cut to desired dimensions as per user requirement or space constraints.

The LED driver is integrated within the extrusion profile, and the system uses a USB-C power interface for both wired and rechargeable battery variants.
The user interface is designed to be intuitive and unobtrusive, featuring feather-touch controls that enable customisable lighting modes and mood combinations.
The product is available in a range of premium finishes including wood grain, marble textures, anodised metal and powder-coated colour options, allowing it to blend into or stand out within various design styles.
The Bajaj Shelf Light is a testament to industrial design that harmonises form, function and emotion – bringing intelligent lighting and refined usability to everyday living spaces.
