The Barista Express Impress by Breville and its development team is the manufacturer’s first ‘assisted’ manual espresso machine that promises a better user experience with every cup of coffee.
An evolution of the widely recognized Barista Express, this machine introduces the designer’s new Impress Puck System™, while incorporating Breville’s Luxe design language.
The system’s assisted tamp provides a consistent 10kg tamping force using compression springs and mechanical advantage linkages.
The ergonomic tamp lever is a positive user experience, providing feedback to achieve an ideal dose without the guesswork.
For its advanced design, The Barista Express Impress has recently been awarded a 2022 Good Design Award by The Chicago Athenaeum: Museum of Architecture and Design and The European Centre for Architecture Art Design and Urban Studies.

The tamps ‘Barista twist’ action dislodges coffee grinds on the tamp face and polishes the puck surface.
The removable shroud reveals the articulating tamp mechanism; secured by magnets it provides a clean and simple aesthetic.
The coffee dose is controlled by in-built sensors measuring the puck height.
The intelligent algorithm calculates if ‘a bit more’ is required for an ideal dose amount.

Once achieved, the grind time automatically updates for the next cycle.
When extracting, PID temperature control delivers water at precisely the right temperature for optimal espresso extraction.
When creating milk-based drinks, the manual steam wand allows users to hand texture micro foam milk.
